Driver killed in accident in Benton Township

A 36-year-old woman from Benton Township was killed in a single vehicle accident around 6:30 a.m. Monday.

When Benton Charter Township officers arrived to the 3900 block of Territorial Road, they found a 200 Saturn resting against a tree.

The car had left the road and struck the tree on the driver's side, killing the driver.

The driver had been identified as Jessica L. Barwick.

Investigators say the cause of the collision was a result of slippery road conditions and excessive speed.
