DTSB fitness classes start

Downtown South Bend kicked off the annual summer fitness classes on Saturday morning at the Gridiron.

The classes are an opportunity to give residents a chance to get in shape, completely free, according to DTSB Events Coordinator Kylie Carter.

“We're kicking off our summer fitness in Downtown South Bend series. It's a chance for you to get outdoors and enjoy some free fitness classes. We have three hours of programming,” Carter said.

The classes are put on by different health and wellness centers across the county. They are held every Saturday starting June 13th and will run through August 29th.

“The whole point of it is to express how important fitness is and to not just for people who can afford classes. We're trying to make it accessible for anybody who wants to workout,” Carter added.

They begin at 8:00 a.m. with yoga, followed by zumba at 9:00 a.m., and fit camp at 10:00 a.m..

The event takes place rain or shine. However, if it is a wash-out, the classes will be moved to the closest parking garage.
