Dusting of snow to start Thursday

ABC57 First Warning Neighborhood Weather ForecastWednesday, December 29th, 2021

We'll be dry for the drive home tonight, but a round of snow showers is likely this evening into early Thursday morning. A quick dusting is all that's expected, and the snow will wrap up before the drive tomorrow morning, so this round of winter weather shouldn't slow you down much. Thursday and Friday will be cloudy and quiet. Highs Thursday will near 40, but could approach 50 on Friday.

All attention then turns to our budding winter system on the way this weekend. While things can (and will most likely) change as we get closer, here is the outline of what we're expecting. Rain begins early Saturday morning, then mixes with snow by the mid-morning. A changeover to all snow is expected sometime Saturday afternoon. Snow is likely Saturday night and will end Sunday morning. Today's trend in model data has been a southerly one, meaning Michiana would potentially be set up on the colder side of the low. Point being: snow totals would go up if this scenario occurs, and confidence of "shovel-able" snow is increasing. Sunday will be cold and very breezy and the first few workdays of 2022 look cold, too.

Tonight: Scattered snow showers. A quick coating of snow possible by morning. Low 28.

Tomorrow: Cloudy. High 38.

Friday (New Year's Eve): Cloudy and milder. Rain arrives late. High 48.

Saturday (New Year's Day): Rain/snow, changing to all snow by the afternoon. High 38.

Sunday: Snow ends in the morning, then cold and breezy. High 25.
