Early, absentee voting starts Tuesday in Indiana

ELKHART, Ind. -- Early and absentee voting begins Tuesday in Indiana.

Voters can cast their ballots ahead of November’s municipal election.

Christopher Anderson, the Elkhart County Clerk of the Court, says early voting is a great option for voters who know which candidates they want to vote for.

Since this year is a municipal election, only registered voters living within select cities or towns will be eligible to vote.

Municipal elections are being held in Elkhart, Goshen, Millersburg, and Bristol in Elkhart County.

In St. Joseph County, voters living within South Bend, Mishawaka, New Carlisle, and Osceola will be able to cast their ballots.

State law requires Hoosiers to bring a photo ID to the polls.

Anderson says about a dozen volunteers will work at three different early voting locations in Elkhart County. He expects between 3,000-4,000 early voters for this year’s election.

“If you have your mind made up, you can get it taken care of,” said Anderson. “You don’t have to worry about a line on election day and it’s just a way in which to get your vote out.”
