BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. – The Early Bird Eatery currently located in Bridgman, Michigan will soon move to South Bend.
Jennifer and Mike Stone opened the café in 2018 as a family-owned business and garnered quite a local following with many regulars visiting several times a week.
Their original plan was to open a second shop in Michiana but the pandemic caused them to focus on their current restaurant.
With an updated plan, the couple decided to move the business to South Bend, specifically into the building where the Dainty Maid Bakery used to be.
The couple believes that downtown South Bend is a lively restaurant scene where they can thrive, despite disappointing their regulars with the news.
"We've had a lot of people reach out to us and obviously people are disappointed that we're moving, because we have regulars that are locals that visit us multiple times a week, but the benefit is a lot of people do come down to this area- to shop and do different things- from South West Michigan, so we know we'll still see some people but we'll definitely be looking at new customers and building a customer base for sure,” said Jennifer.
The couple hopes to open their new location in November.
