Earthquake strikes southwestern China

 BEIJING -- An earthquake struck southwestern China Sunday. The quake injured at least 30 people, three of which who are in serious condition.

The earthquake had a magnitute of 5.5.

Officials said the quake damaged 2,500 homes and caused 700 others to collapse.

Nearly 55,000 people were affected.

About 34 aftershocks were recorded after the initial earthquake.
