Eight Injured in Miami County crash; including three children

Miami County, IN - Eight people were injured in a crash on Miami County Road 300 North at Meridian Road Saturday afternoon.

The crash happened at 4:30 p.m.

Troopers report that Landon Cole, 16 of Wabash was driving a 1998 Dodge Caravan westbound on County Road 300 North. Landon stopped at a stop sign at the intersection of Meridian Road. As the van drove across the road it was hit by another vehicle.

The vehicle that slammed into the van was a 2001 Dodge Ram pickup truck which was pulling a flatbed trailer with a race car on it.

The truck was driven by Richard day, 63, of Denver, IN; the truck was not required to stop at the intersection.

Cole was not injured in the crash by four passengers in the van were taken to the hospital with various injuries.

The victims in the van include: 

Gregory Welch, 28, he was transported by ambulance to Dukes Hospital and then flown to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne with a head injury.

Christian Hall, 14, was ejected from the van and taken by ambulance to Dukes Hospital and then flown to Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne with multiple lacerations and a skull fracture.

As of 4:30 p.m. Sunday Hall was listed in Serious, but stable condition at Lutheran.

Brayden Schrock, 6, was ejected from the van and was flown from the scene of the crash to Parkview Hospital with a closed head injury.

Thomas McHanley, 17, was taken by ambulance to Dukes Hospital with a complaint of pain.

The victims in the truck include:

Aaron Day, 36, Carson Day, 9 and Trevor Day, 5, all from Denver, IN--all three were taken by ambulance to Dukes Hospital with a complaint of pain to various body parts.

All the victims in the truck have been treated and released according to Troopers.

The crash is still under investigation Sunday.

Neither alcohol or drugs are suspected as a contributing factor to this accident.

Cole was issued a citation for failure to yield to cross traffic.
