ROCHESTER, Ind. -- The Fulton County Coroner reports an elderly couple were found dead inside their home Tuesday in the 2700 block of Barrett Road.

The coroner determined the couple, 65-year-old Maurice Lewis and his wife 71-year-old Barbara Lewis, died from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Officials say the carbon monoxide came from the couple's HVAC system.

The home had a CO detector that was unfortunately not working.

The coroner estimated the two died while sleeping sometime between midnight and 6 a.m., Tuesday.
