ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart Chapter of the Indiana Black Expo is helping you keep your health in check with a free three-day healthcare conference at the Elkhart Aquatic Center this weekend!
The chapter calls the conference ‘Man Up’, since it wants participants to man up and check in on their physical, mental and social health.
The conference will feature key speakers including Rep. Greg Porter and Mayor Rod Roberson.
It also aims to bring awareness to the disparities that African-American and other minority men face when it comes to healthcare.
A study from the national academy of medicine revealed that ‘racial and ethnic minorities receive lower quality healthcare than white people’, which is a big reason why minorities, especially men, tend to avoid regular visits.
The health fair will allow not just men, but any male or female in Michiana interested to stop in and to take advantage of the resources being offered.
You can find more information at the event’s page on Facebook.
