ELKHART, Ind. -- This week, the Elkhart Chapter of Indiana Black Expo kicks off a full week of events honoring the life and legacy of community leader Leroy Robinson.

He always wanted to shine a light on other people. A legacy like that has to keep going," President of Elkhart Chapter of Indiana Black Expo Robert Taylor said.

For the fourth year, the chapter is dedicating seven days to celebrate Robinson, a man remembered for shining the spotlight on others and lifting his community.

Wednesday, there will be a community conversation with Notre Dame women’s basketball coach Niele Ivey centered around health, wellness, and mental fitness.

Then, Thursday there will be a mental health symposium featuring Darryl “DMC” McDaniels of Run DMC.

"We have been around 53 years now, and it's just a pattern of good work, good faith, and relationships. God has allowed us to be that point where people believe in what our mission is and what we are trying to do for this city and this community, and working together works is our motto," Taylor said.

The events run now through Aug. 17.
