ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart Chapter of the Indiana Black Expo announced on Sunday that they will be hosting their eighth annual Feed Our Friends Christmas Dinner and food giveaway event.
A free holiday-style dinner will be provided to the homeless and anyone else looking to enjoy a meal on Saturday at 3 p.m. inside the Roosevelt Gym.
According to Chapter President Robert Taylor, the community event has fed more than 400 people each year for the past seven years.
"Holidays are a time when everyone should be able to enjoy a meal and enjoy family. Elkhart is known as the city with a heart, and this is one of those events over the years that has proven that," said Taylor.
In addition to the dinner, there will be a food pantry, with food provided by Cultivate Food Rescue.
Food item donations are also accepted for the dinner, and must be dropped off at the gym before 1 p.m.
Those interested in volunteering can do so by calling (574)-226-4328.
