ELKHART, Ind – At a Monday night meeting Elkhart’s City Council green lighted a street widening project.
The street widening project is known as the Bristol Street widening project which will see the current two lane street widened up to possibly five lanes in certain areas.
Elkhart’s City Council approved a $1.5 million dollar appropriation from the local income tax special distribution fund to go towards the project and city of Elkhart Engineer Jeffrey Schaffer said this is good for the community.
“I think it means for the community that we’re about to enter a really good cooperative design process and that we want to work with the area and work with the residents and make sure that the Bristol street that we create makes sense for everybody both citywide and locally to that area,” Schaffer said.
