The Elkhart County Health Department has issued a new public health order that extends COVID-19 safety measures, including facial coverings, through May 14.
The new public health order is effective April 6 through May 14.
When Elkhart County is in the advisory level of yellow, orange or red, residents must wear a facial covering when in an indoor area open to the public, and outdoor public area where a distance of 6-feet cannot be maintained, a private indoor or outdoor area where a distance of 6-feet cannot be maintained.
When the county is in the blue advisory level, facial coverings become recommended.
For social gatherings and events, capacity limits are based on the county's advisory level:
- Attendance is limited to 25% capacity when Elkhart County is in the orange or red advisory level
- Attendance is limited to 50% capacity when Elkhart County is in the yellow advisory level
- Attendance can be set at 100% when the county is in the blue advisory level
The county is also supporting all businesses that require compliance with mitigation measures.
