Elkhart Community Schools names new superintendent
ELKHART, Ind.—Elkhart Community Schools has announced the selection of Dr. Steve Thalheimer as the next Superintendent of Schools for Elkhart Community Schools.
“The Board looks forward to welcoming Dr. Thalheimer to our organization and the families we serve,” said Karen Carter, Board of School Trustees President. “Thalheimer stood out among the highly qualified candidates for his passion, proven track record in developing curriculum, and experience building effective teams of educators and support staff who are student-focused and committed to success.”
Thalheimer has over 24 years of experience in public education and for the last five years, has served as superintendent at Fairfield Community Schools.
“The core of my leadership practice is stakeholder engagement, listening to students and staff, and being respectful of the people who make up our school community,” said Thalheimer.
Thalheimer earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Educational Leadership) degree from Indiana State University, a Masters of Arts (English) degree from University of Rochester, and a Bachelors of Arts (History and English) degree from Indiana University.
On January 1, 2019, Thalheimer will begin his career at Elkhart Community Schools.
