Elkhart Community Schools’ secondary schools to change hours in 2023-2024 school year

ELKHART, Ind. - Students in Elkhart Community Schools’ secondary schools will begin school an hour later on Mondays this year, the district announced. Dismissal times, however, will stay the same.

This change impacts students at Elkhart High School, North Side Middle School, Pierre Moran Middle School and West Side Middle School.

Arrival times will be normal Tuesdays through Fridays.

The district called for the change to allow for more professional development time for ECS staff.

Transportation will still be available for students on Mondays, but they should expect pickup to be delayed by an hour.

If a 2-hour delay falls on a Monday, schools will operate on a typical 2-hour delay schedule.

Start times for ECS elementary schools and the Elkhart Career Center do not change.
