Elkhart County 4-H Fair, a sustainable event

The Elkhart County 4-H Fair will conclude on Saturday for this years festivities. Friday is Green Earth Education Day and the goal is to educate the public on how to be more friendly to the environment.

Beginning at 10 a.m. exhibits and booths will be set up inside Heritage Park. There will be 20 different exhibits set up from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Fairgoers can expect to see educational and interactive displays on how to be sustainable.

The fair has been implementing recycling efforts for several years and each year it has grown.

“One year we had, we wouldn’t fill up maybe one dumpster. Some nights we fill up 4,” said Jan Robinson who is the Green Committee Chairperson.

All week throughout the fairgrounds, there have been 65 recycling bins set up. The hope is that will encourage people to recycle.

“Over the year it has just increased, which makes me feel fantastic," Robinson added.
