Elkhart County 4H Fair food vendors celebrate 50th year of business

GOSHEN, Ind. -- The Elkhart County 4H Fair is stacked from top to bottom with events and entertainment, but there is one thing that keeps attendees coming back year after year, which is the food.

The McGrath family, who own and operate ‘The Best Around,’ food trucks have been one steady presence at the fair, as they are celebrating 50 years of serving up their products.

While most would have a hard time even considering being in the food industry that long, for part owner, Kevin McGrath, family is what has got them to this point.

“My brother and I basically grew up here, and one of the coolest things about it for me or us is, it’s a family business, and to watch our kids grow up out here the way we grew up out here, is really a cool thing, and they’re getting close to the point where they’re running things,” McGrath said.

In honor of their 50th anniversary, the family's gourmet cook, ‘Mama Jane’ Harris, will be crafting her take on the viral butter Biscoff cheesecake, but in funnel cake form.

It’s located at ‘The Best Around’ funnel cakes stand on Pecan Street in front of the grandstand.
