Elkhart County celebrating 15 new restrooms across park system
ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Parks and Recreation Department will be holding a ceremonial ribbon cutting celebrating 15 new restrooms spread across the county parks.
The event will take place at the grand opening of the biggest restroom of the whole project which is located near the Fisherman's Shelter at Ox Bow County Park at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 18.
"The Elkhart County Park and Recreation Board in collaboration with the Elkhart County Commissioners, Council, Stormwater and Surveyor’s Offices invites the media to join us for a restroom ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the final phase of construction for the parks fifteen new restrooms," parks officials said.
The large restroom at Ox Bow was designed with six stalls and in a location where major events like cross country meets, local fundraising 5Ks, and Elkhart County Parks sponsored events are common.
"The remaining latrines and modern restrooms will open over the coming month with the goal of every new bathroom open before the end of November," parks officials said.
