Elkhart County Democratic Party holding caucus to replace Clerk-Treasurer

The Elkhart County Democratic Party is holding a caucus to name a replacement for Goshen's Clerk-Treasurer Adam Scharf.

Scharf resigned his term, which ends December 31, 2023.

The caucus will be held July 8 at 6 p.m. at the Goshen Public Library, 601 S. 5th Street.

It is expected last no longer than one hour.

The meeting is open to the public with COVID-19 prevention guidelines in effect.

The caucus will be governed by Indiana statute and Indiana Democratic Party rules.

Only precinct committee chairs represented by Goshen will be allowed to vote who have either been elected or appointed within 30 days of the vacancy.

If you are interested in being considered as a candidate, you must complete two documents at the Elkhart County Clerk's Office.

• CAN-12 Statement of Economic Interest for Local and School Board Offices

All paperwork must be received by 6 p.m. on July 5.
