Elkhart County Fair collects food for local pantry

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Fair fell short of setting a world record for the most amount of food donations collected during a 24-hour period, but set a local record for the CCS food pantry and food bank.

The fair collected 46,962 pounds of food in 24 hours.

The previous CCS record was 21,000 pounds.

All of the donations will stay in Elkhart County.

The record was set in North Carolina in 2011. The North Carolina School of Science & Math in Durham collected 559,885 pounds of food in one day.
