Elkhart County offers guidance for absentee and in-person voting

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Election Board set new dates and times for absentee in-person voting for the rescheduled primary election. The election was postponed until June 2, 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Absentee in-person voting is scheduled to begin Tuesday, May 5 and run through Monday, June 1.

The election board plans for Elkhart and Goshen locations to be open during the week and the two Saturdays before Election Day. Locations in Middlebury and Nappanee will be open on the two Saturdays before Election Day as well.

The Governor, Secretary of State, and the Indiana Election Commission will be meeting on Wednesday, April 22, to review the current status of the pandemic and how it might affect the primary.

If you do not want to vote in-person, anyone can request an absentee ballot by mail and you do not have to provide a reason.

Visit the Elkhart County Clerk's website to download and fill out the absentee by mail application.

You can also send an email to request an application be mailed to you, or you can call the Election Board at (574) 535-6469 to request an application.
