ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – County officials say a new management position will bring renovations to the historic Goshen Courthouse.

According to our reporting partners at The Elkhart Truth, the Elkhart County Board of Commissioners voted to create space for a court administrator position.

The law library in the Goshen Courthouse will receive renovations to accommodate the position.

Renovations will cost over $20,000, and the position itself will be paid out of the court’s annual budget.

Elkhart County originally hoped to cover part of the cost with a Supreme Court grant but failed to receive the funds.

However, officials say they have worked to create the new position for nearly 15 years, and are happy the plans have become a reality.

The new court manager will handle the budgets of all the courts in the county, and will be responsible for record keeping, assigning cases and handling employee matters.
