Elkhart deputies searching for robbery suspect

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -

The Elkhart Sheriff's Department is searching for a man who forced his way into an elderly man's home and stole a laptop Sunday afternoon.

According to deputies, the victim, who resides in the 50000 block of CR 25, responded to a knock on his door and was met by a man armed with a gun.

The man struck the victim in the head with an unknown object, went into the victim's home, took a Toshiba laptop and fled, according to deputies.

The suspect is described as a short, stocky light-skinned black or Hispanic male who was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt.

During the investigation, deputies learned a navy blue 2000 Honda Pilot with Indiana plates was driving in the area around the time of the crime.

The driver was a white female in her mid 20s to early 30s with brown or black hair, approximately 5'5" tall and weighs approximately 120 to 130 pounds.

The vehicle was seen making a u-turn near the victim's home and was seen picking up a heavy set, light skinned black or Hispanic male with a shaved head, carrying a laptop.
