Elkhart father has memorial rebuilt for son

ELKHART, Ind.- As ABC57 News reported back in May, an Elkhart father's memorial for his son was destroyed by vandals.

Well this weekend, he got a little help replacing it. Marvin Trost Jr. built a memorial for his son, Staff Sergeant Marvin Lee Trost. It was right outside of his home, but someone destroyed it just before Memorial Day. This weekend, MAvTistic Glass and Stone donated a hand-carved stone to Trost replacing the ruined one.

"I'm so very happy that he's not going to get forgotten quickly and so easily, said Marvin Trost Jr. “I hope that many, for years to come even if it’s a few grow up to be like him."

This isn't the first donation Trost has received to help replace the memorial. Shortly after we aired this story,  people in the community brought flags, flowers and money to help make it even bigger and better than before.
