ELKHART, Ind. - 2024's Elkhart Jazz Festival has the theme "Worthy of Note", and tickets are on sale at The Lerner Theatre box office in person and online.

“The Elkhart Jazz Festival has a history of 36 years of celebrating musical diversity with incredible performances from world-renowned artists, with four days of music across six stages, each with both free and ticketed options,” said Ben Decker of the Elkhart Jazz Festival. “More than 50 performances will showcase a jazz-rooted roster with names you won’t want to miss.”

This year's theme comes from the event always being "worthy of note" in Michiana, and organizers say this year will be no exception.

The fest is happening from June 20 to 23.

Thursday, June 20, the fest will start at 7 p.m. at The Lerner Theatre with a free performance by Connie Han.

Also, that day, Wellfield Botanic Garden will have their ticketed Groovin’ in the Garden series with Steven Perry Quartet at 7 p.m., followed by Dave Bennett until 10 p.m.

On Friday, June 21, the festival headliner, Keb’ Mo’, will take The Lerner Theatre stage.

Mo' has five Grammy wins, and 13 nominations, and organizers say audiences will experience his positive vibes and ability to bridge storytelling to music.

Mo' has performed at Carnegie Hall and The White House, and collaborated with Taj Mahal, Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt, The Chicks, and Lyle Lovett.

Friday’s “Festival Day Pass” will include access to indoor stages at the Crystal Ballroom, inside The Lerner Theatre, and the Elkhart Public Library’s Atrium with performances by Rebecca Jade, Kait Dunton Band, Eric Jacobson, Isabella Isherwood.

Friday there will also be free outdoor stage performances by Adam Hawley, The Nth Power, Scott Allen, Dave Bennett, and Couch.

On Saturday, June 22, The Legendary Count Basie Orchestra will perform.

They earned their recent Grammy for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album and have played for the biggest jazz festivals and concert halls in the world.

Saturday’s “Festival Day Pass” will include a mix of jazz from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. on indoor stages at the Crystal Ballroom and the Elkhart Public Library’s Atrium.

Attendees will also have access to the 2 p.m. set by Bria Skongberg in The Lerner Theatre.

The Crystal Ballroom will showcase Emily Cavanagh, Kris Brownlee, Ilya Serov, Kinga Glyk, and Zac Zinger.

At the Elkhart Library Atrium, you can experience performances by the Alex Anest Organ Trio, Christopher Lucas Wilson Trio, Bryan Eng Trio, and Stella Cole.

There will also be performances on the outdoor Central Green stage by area high school jazz bands, Julieta Eugenio, VibeNation, Lucia Sarmiento, New Breed Brass Band, and Huntertones.

On the South Main Street Stage, The Frost Duo, Q Sonics, Joe Marcinek Band, and Paul Decker & the Difference, will perform.

Sunday, June 23, will be a free day of jazz, open for the community to enjoy.

The Lerner Theatre will host David Hilliker’s Jazz Tribute and Truth in Jazz with special guest Dave Bennett.

The Central Park stage will start at 12:30 p.m. with Third Shore Collective, Cohen-Rutkowski Project featuring Sandy Lomax, and Emma Hedrick.

Tickets will be sold separately for the annual Jazz Brunch in The Crystal Ballroom which will feature performances by Rafael Chavez Trio and The Dean’s List.
