Elkhart man arrested for domestic battery after woman found beaten at home
ELKHART, Ind. - An Elkhart man was arrested for domestic battery after allegedly beating a woman at a home in the 200 block of Middlebury St., according to the Elkhart Police Department.
Jesus Mendoza Estrada, 32, was preliminarily charged with domestic battery with a serious bodily injury, domestic battery with a deadly weapon and interference with the reporting of a crime.
Police were called to the residence around 4:30 a.m. on Monday for the incident.
When they arrived, they found the injured victim on the porch. The victim said she knew the suspect and that he hit her with a metal bar and threw her down a set of stairs. Estrada allegedly broke her phone in the incident as well.
She was taken to the hospital for significant but likely non-life-threatening head injuries, officers said.
