Elkhart man dies in three-vehicle crash on U.S. 12

CASS COUNTY, Mich. - An Elkhart man died in a three-vehicle crash along U.S. 12 in Cass County Tuesday morning, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Office.

At 5:27 a.m., deputies were called to the highway, near Kensington Road in Mason Township, for the incident.

According to the investigation, a black BMW 325, driven by 58-year-old Timothy Waudby of Elkhart, was traveling west on U.S. 12 when the vehicle crossed the center line and crashed into oncoming traffic.

The BMW first struck a silver Jeep Gladiator and then a Silver Nissan Frontier.

Waudby was pronounced dead at the scene from his injuries.

The drivers of the Jeep and Nissan received minor injuries in the crash.

Deputies do not think drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.

Seatbelts were worn by those involved.

The incident is still under investigation.
