Elkhart Man injured in single motorcycle crash

CASS COUNTY, Mich. – 56-year-old Vincent Lee Downs of Elkhart was driving eastbound on State Line Road in Mason Township in Cass County when he drove through a stop sign and wrecked in a cornfield across from Old 205, according to the Cass County Sheriff's Office.

The crash occurred on Tuesday evening.

Emergency personnel transported Downs to Elkhart General Hospital for injuries he sustained during the crash.

The sheriff's office says that alcohol was a factor. 

Downs was not wearing a helmet, deputies said.

An investigation is ongoing.
