Elkhart man sentenced for possession of machine guns

An Elkhart man was sentenced to federal prison for possession of machine guns, according to the US Attorney’s Office.

Joshua Ray, 29, was sentenced to 41 months in prison and 2 years supervised release.

In May 2019, the Department of Homeland Security intercepted a package in international mail for Ray that included 40 suspected Glock auto switch conversion devices that could turn a pistol into a machine gun, according to court records.

On May 22, 2019, federal agents obtained a search warrant and conducted a search at Ray’s Elkhart home.

There, law enforcement found four auto switch devices, along with three rifles, a shotgun and two handguns, according to the US Attorney’s office.

Ray pleaded guilty in the case and was sentenced last week.
