ELKHART, Ind. – Students and faculty from West Side Middle School in Elkhart held a ceremony on Monday honoring those who served our country.
40 veterans attended the celebration. They say that this was a great opportunity to meet other veterans and honor each other.
“I love talking to my older veterans,” James Vance said, a military veteran. “They led the way for me. Without them we wouldn’t be here. Without them I wouldn’t have had the chance, so if I can, I’ll get a veteran to talk to me about that. I find it very interesting.”
Students got a chance to talk to veterans and understand what they do.
Students also got to learn why it is important to celebrate those who lost their lives to serve our country.
