Elkhart names new assistant police chief

ELKHART, Ind. — The city of Elkhart has a new assistant police chief.
Mayor Dick Moore announced the appoint of Laura Koch, the city's current public information officer, to the assistant chief's position.
Koch has been with the department for 11 years. She will start on Feb. 1.
She will replace Tim Balyeat who is retiring after 26 years.
