ELKHART, Ind. -- Elkhart Police are on the hunt for three suspects after a home and garage were hit with bullets Saturday morning.
Officers say the shooting happened near 11th Street and West Wolf Avenue around 10:54 a.m.
While enjoying breakfast with her family, Brenda Carter, the owner of the damaged house, heard a loud noise.
"I heard a pop and it sounded like something slid off the dresser so I went to look and I look around and I saw powder everywhere and I'm like, 'Well where's this powder coming from?'” she said.
Carter says she noticed there were bullet holes in the wall and she proceeded to make sure everyone was safe.
When she went into her bedroom, she saw more bullet holes.
“Had we left about three to five minutes before, it would've been in one of my children,” said Carter.
According to EPD, a victim was being shot at near the home by three suspects who pulled up in a white Chevy Impala and started shooting.
The suspects are described as black males.
There were no injuries as a result of this incident.
If you have any information about this case, you are urged to contact the Elkhart Police Department at 574-295-7070.
