ELKHART, Ind. – The City of Elkhart Parks and Recreation Department is looking for the public’s input on improvement plans for over 30 parks in the city.

The Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with enFocus, a local nonprofit dedicated to building better communities in the South Bend-Elkhart region, to host a series of in-person community meetings throughout the summer.

Initial efforts to gather resident feedback on six parks began in early 2021. These meetings were impacted by the virtual meeting format mandated during COVID-19.

Now, as guidelines relax, the Parks and Recreation Department is looking to expand their focus on the most-used parks in the area.

The first of four meetings will be held Thursday, June 24 at the Willowdale Pavilion from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The rest of the meetings are as follows:

  • Thursday, July 8
    • 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
    • Studebaker Pavilion
  • Thursday, July 29
    • 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
    • High Dive Park Pavilion
  • Wednesday, August 4
    • 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
    • McNaughton Pavilion

Food and beverages will be provided at these meetings.

Residents who are planning to attend are encouraged to register here beforehand.

Residents unable to attend the in-person meetings can provide park feedback via a survey on the Parks and Recreation Department’s website.
