Elkhart patrolman, teens hospitalized following golf cart crash

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- Three Michiana teen boys and a deputy are recovering after being involved in a golf cart crash.

It happened around 7 Monday night during the Explorers Program hosted by the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office, when the golf cart they were riding in tipped over on its side.

Police say speed, high winds and the amount of people in the cart could be to blame. Patrolman Bob Smith was taken to Elkhart General with some scrapes and foot pain.

A 14, 15 and 18-year-old were also taken to area hospitals complaining of pain.

All four have been released from the hospital.
