Elkhart authorities investigating fatal shooting

After closure in 2020, YMCA reopens in downtown
ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal shooting on Stevens Avenue that claimed the life of one male.
The shooting happened in the 1600 block of Stevens Avenue Thursday just before 10 a.m.
Police found a man behind the home with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A second man with a gunshot wound was taken to the hospital. His condition is not known.
The identities of the victims have not yet been released, but the Elkhart County Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation.
