Elkhart Police investigating shooting, driver shot in arm
Elkhart Police are investigating a shooting that happened Sunday evening at an address on Franklin Street or Marion Street.
Police were dispatched around 7:45 p.m. to W. Lexington Avenue and East Boulevard to investigate a crash where the driver left the scene.
The driver, 27-year-old Jacob Myer, was located at Elkhart General Hospital with a gunshot wound.
Myer and two other people told police they went to an address that was either on Franklin Street or Marion Street.
Myer parked outside the address and one of the passengers went inside.
A short time later, a person Myer was familiar with came out of the residence, walked to the vehicle and shot Myer, reports said.
Myer drove off, stopped a few blocks away and had one of the passengers drive him to the hospital, reports said.
While on the way to the hospital, the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed.
The driver and Myer got out of the vehicle and walked to the hospital.
Myer was treated at the hospital for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the arm, police said.
The alleged shooter was described as a black male.
