Elkhart police-involved shooting turned over to Prosecutor's Office

A police-involved shooting in Elkhart has now been turned over to the Elkhart County Prosecutor's Office, according to Indiana State Police.

32-year-old Joseph Lee allegedly pointed a gun at Elkhart Police Officers September 23.

That's after officers say he was fleeing from Washington Gardens Apartments.

Officers then apparently fired weapons at Lee, killing him.

Lee was wanted for shooting a 16-year-old in the face in Mishawaka earlier that month.

Seven Elkhart Police Officers have been put on administrative leave after the September 23 deadly shooting.
