ELKHART, Ind, -- Nearly 300 RV's were displayed in neat rows in the law across from the RV Hall of Fame in Elkhart on Thursday, kicking off the 6th Annual Spring RV show.
From near and far, people like Bob Maxwell rolled on into opening day.
He's from Smith Center, Kansas.
"We're looking for a new camper and we wanted to go to a larger show," explains Maxwell.
But he's not the only one who made a long journey to make an important purchase.
"One of our first visitors was a gentleman from Florida who flew in to make a purchase of a new travel trailer," says show director, Matt Rose.
All of the attendees had one goal in mind.
"With Elkhart County being the RV capital of the world, they come to Elkhart because they know there's no cheaper place to buy an RV than right here," explains Rose. "Many of these units rolled right off of the factory floor."
From heated tile floors and flat screen TVs, to the more simple RVs, Rose says there's something for everyone at the four day event.
"You buy one ticket, go to one show and you can see all different types of RV's in one spot," he says. "They're built right here. We say buy it where it's built and save, and people know they'll get a great price by buying right here in Elkhart."
