ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart teen who burned down the observation tower at Oxbow County Park will not go to prison!
Monday morning, a judge sentenced 19-year-old Mitchell Birr to a three-year work release, nine years of probation, and 1,200 hours of community service.
He has also been ordered to pay more than $69,000 in restitution.
Birr pleaded guilty to arson in August.
He said he burned down the 38-year-old tower last summer because he was bored.
