Emergency enhanced SNAP benefits for Hoosiers ends in June

The state of Indiana was granted approval to issue emergency allotments to Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program households in March 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The emergency allowed households to receive the maximum benefit based on the number of people in the household.

Due to the termination of the state’s public health emergency in March 2022 and a recent change in state law, the final month for the emergency benefit is May.

In June 2022, the SNAP benefit amount will again be based on household size, income and allowable deductions.
