Employee accused of stealing cash from Gabe's

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- A cashier at Gabe's has been charged with theft for allegedly stealing over $700 from the cash register, according to court records.

A loss prevention officer for Gabe's on Grape Road contacted police after discovering an employee had stolen money from the cash register, according to reports.

The loss prevention officer reviewed surveillance footage that showed Shari Foster remove a large number of bills from her cash drawer around 1:23 p.m. on September 1, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Foster placed the cash in her back pocket and left the store with the cash, reports said.

Her cash drawer was short by $761 that day, according to the loss prevention officer, according to the probable cause affidavit.

Foster was charged in October 2019 with one count of theft.

She was arrested on January 29, 2020 and released the following day on her own recognizance.
