EPD investigating 'fake bomb threat' to Walgreens Friday

ELKHART, Ind. -- The Elkhart Police Department says it is actively investigating after an unknown suspect called in a fake bomb threat to an Elkhart Walgreens on Friday morning.
Authorities say the Elkhart City 911 Communications Center received a 911 call from an employee at the Walgreens at 200 S Nappanee St. reporting a bomb threat they had received.
"An unknown caller told the employee that there was an explosive device in the store and demanded money on gift cards," the EPD said. "EPD officers, with the assistance of Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department deputies, evacuated the store and conducted a search of the building. No devices or suspicious items were located inside the store."
Officers on scene determined the threat was not credible and there was no danger to the public.
"During the investigation, officers made contact with a male bicyclist outside the store. The bicyclist was arrested on outstanding and unrelated warrants," the EPD said. "At this time, we have no information linking this individual to the fake bomb threat."
