UPDATE: Majority of power restored following equipment issue which left 2,000 customers without power, including two schools

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- UPDATE: As of 2:01 p.m., Friday, Schnee told ABC57 News, "A majority of the customers have been restored."

The I&M outage map shows less than ten customers are currently without power in the area.

ORIGINAL: Reports came in earlier in the day Friday about an Indiana Michigan Power outage for over 2,000 customers in the area of Twyckenham and Lincoln Way

Officials with Adams High School and Lincoln Elementary School say they were impacted by the power outage, but classes are continuing as normal. They say parents have also been informed.

Schnee Doyle with I&M told ABC57 News, "The outage started at 12:30 p.m. and affected 2,100 South Bend customers. The cause was an equipment issue. We are in the process of restoring customers now."
