Evacuation order in Bremen lifted, residents can return home

NIPSCO says the residents who had to evacuate because of the gas leak can now return home.

A gas leak was reported near Plymouth Street and Bowen Avenue Thursday afternoon.

Residents within a four block radius of Woodies Supermarket were asked to evacuate.

All roads have reopened, except for one block of Bowen Avenue, between 331 and North Street. That portion of the road will remain closed several more hours while workers complete repairs.

There are no customers without service.
