Evacuations ordered following Indiana train derailment, explosion

PRINCETON, Ind. – Evacuations were ordered in Princeton, Indiana after a train derailed and exploded Sunday evening.
According to the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office, dispatch received several calls about the derailment in the area of Old U.S. 41 around 7:40 p.m.

Emergency responders went door to door, asking neighbors and business owners within a 1-mile radius of the derailment to evacuate.
It is unknown if there are any injuries.

Princeton is approximately 40 minutes north of Evansville.
The investigation into what caused the derailment is ongoing.
