Event called Theology on Tap aims to stress the importance of Civic Duty
SOUTH BEND, Ind – Holy Cross College students and Reverend Kevin Rhoades, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Fort Wayne – South Bend gathered at O’Rourke’s Public House for an event called Theology on Tap.
The event is geared towards promoting civic duty amongst young voters.
“We do these at O’Rourke’s here at Eddy Street Commons to try and have theology meet the students and community where they’re at,” Senior Vice President of Holy Cross College Michael Griffin said.
Thursday’s event saw approximately 60 people speak about the issues facing society in the run-up to an election year.
The group aims to address the issues facing society in a non-partisan way while promoting Catholic Doctrine.
“We’re going to be talking about Christianity in politics how do faithful Christians think about voting and think about getting involved in national and local political activities without being partisan,” Griffin said.
Thursday’s event was the fourth event with the inaugural event held in August 2019, with more to come.
