Exercise recommended for new moms

Experts say exercise should not be kicked out of the do list even as a new mother.

Instructor Kathleen Donahoe says postnatal fitness is healthy for all new moms but she tells women that exercise alone will not make pregnancy pounds disappear.

"It’s not a quick fix. You want to do it in a healthy way; you want to make sure you're eating enough, particularly if you're breastfeeding. I think a slow approach is best," said Donahoe.

For women who had a condition during their pregnancy or for those who had been on bed rest, it is especially important to start moving.

Moms should check with their doctor first before starting any workout regimen.
