Extreme heat and humidity spikes Wednesday, highs in the mid-90s, feeling-like 100 or higher in the afternoon.
The surge of sweltering temperatures does not last, a line of thunderstorms develops Thursday evening.
The line of storms could be strong to severe, with gusty wind the greatest threat. The timing of severe potential is 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Showers may linger into Thursday, then the end of the week is milder, before another steamy rise in heat and humidity this weekend.
