Family & Children’s Center hosts An Evening with Dave Pelzer

The Family and Children’s Center is hosting New York Times best selling author Dave Pelzer in April, which is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

Pelzer is the author of A Child Called “It” which was on the best seller's list for over 6 years.

Pelzer will share his personal story of growing up in an abusive home, then a series of foster homes until he joined the military at age 18 on April 21 at the Century Center.

Tickets, which go on sale Friday, are $20 per person.

"This is a very important event for us because this event is sharing how important Child Abuse Prevention is within our community. And Dave Pelzer shares his story from when he was a child when he was abused, and how important it is to have those programs in your community to help children,” said Claire Powell: Director of Development at Family & Children's Center.

Due to the sensitive nature of the topic, the event is recommended for ages 12 and up.
