Family moves from Hawaii to Michiana

If you spend any time in Michiana, you quickly realize it's not paradise in the winter because feet of snow and dangerously cold temperatures dominate the forecast.

So imagine how rough it must be moving here from paradise, also known as Hawaii.

“It's cold!” says Matthew and Jeannie Pawlak, a couple who just spent the last two years in Kauai.

The two moved to South Bend after Matthew took a job at the new Costco store on University Drive.

They say they miss Hawaii but they're happy to call Michiana, home.

“It felt like we weren't living out there, like we were just on vacation,” says Matthew.

The two say the cold weather is different, but they key word in all of this is acclimating.
